About "The Froots"

When I first came out in my early twenties, one of my best friends at the time would call me, "a big fruit" if I did anything particularly flamboyant. At the time, I laughed along, and I mean, they weren't wrong! But having just come out and still navigating this massive change in my life, I felt it was comments like this that still marked me out, made me "other" and something I didn't recognise even to myself.

The Pashion Froot is how I claim that word back, and connect it to strength rather than shame. Throughout the world, there are people navigating the same journey of coming to terms with their sexuality and gender identity, some surrounded by friends and love, others surrounded by isolation and danger. Yet, we all share the experience of being part of the LGBTQIA+ community wherever we are. How we choose to participate and identify with the community is up to each and every one of us, and our diversity is our strength.

I would love for this to become a platform for our community to connect globally, to share common symbols we can wear. Symbols we can recognise each other by, that others outside the community would not know. No matter where you are, you'll always be a Froot!
